Homes out here in Black Butte Ranch take a beating from the surrounding pines. Needle debris piles up on the roof, moss takes hold, skylights age out, and screens get beat up over time. It's the kind of gradual wear that's easy to ignore - until it becomes a real problem.
This one had a full to-do list. We're replacing three skylights, pulling off the moss, doing a complete roof cleaning, and swapping out four window screens. That's a solid amount of work, but it's exactly the kind of multi-point maintenance that keeps a home protected for the long run. Catching these things early is always cheaper than dealing with what comes after.
Moss is especially worth staying on top of in wooded settings like this. It holds moisture against the roof surface, and over time that leads to deterioration that goes well beyond a simple cleaning. Getting it off - and doing a proper roof cleaning to follow - gives the surface a fighting chance.
The skylight replacements are just as important. Old skylights leak, lose their seal, and let water work its way into places it shouldn't be. New ones put that concern to rest. Same idea with the window screens - small detail, but it matters for keeping the interior comfortable and protected.
We're proud to be trusted with homes like this one. More photos coming once the cleaning is done, so stay tuned for the full before-and-after.
